Recently, the news of NKF's CEO shocked everyone in Singapore. Perhaps, even people from all over the world. They are not shocked because its unbelievable for a Singaporean to be like that. In fact, they are shocked because he, as a CEO of a non-profitable organization, as well as a CEO of a charity organization, is being unethical. Yet, he had the cheek to sue SPH for defamation. To be frank, I salute the worker who reported the matter to one of the reporter of SPH about the "gold-plated tap" issue. Also, I salute the reporter for her courage to report it.
What happened was..
This CEO employed this worker to fix a gold plated tap at his office (for personal use) which cost him $950. The worker felt something strange so he reported the matter to the media. The CEO in turn sue SPH for defamation.
Then, recently this CEO withdraw his charges against SPH because matters are getting clearer each day. But will everyone let him off just like that? The answer is NO! The lawyer asked him, "Does a tap that cost $950 expensive to you?" He replied, "No!" The lawyer asked him again, "Does a tap that cost $950 expensive to one who earns $1000/mth and donated $50 every month to NKF?" His reply was "Yes". Ridiculous!!! He's a total disgrace to Singaporeans! He's earning like $25,000/mth and he had 12 months bonus a year. Calculate how much he earns when he's a CEO of a
non-profitable organization!! Yet, Goh chok tong's wife said, "$25,000/mth is peanuts!!!" $25,000/mth might be peanuts to her because she's filthy rich, but whats $25,000 to a poor guy who's earning $1,000/mth? Why will she want to say that when she know her reputation will turn foul?
Oh! By the way, they reported that NKF funds will last the patients for only 3 years when it can actually last them for 30 - 40 years. Why isn't there any transparancy within a charity organization when the funds is actually contributed by the public? Yes, I might agree that giving the CEO a high pay is considered reasonable since he worked hard for it. However, is 12 months bonus alittle too much? Do the public have rights to know how much these people are having for their pay since the public is the one paying them? C'mon! The public are paying to donate to the needies and not to these rich.
Will we still contribute to NKF? The answer is NO to me unless a better and more transparent organization is form. Daddy always tell me NKF is a con machine. Thus, i didn't donate since the day I know whats happening. My auntie and uncles still donated at the recent charity show. Some even donate $50 (or more) every month. They're just making the rich to be richer. Damn!
My sis's friend's father had some illness as well. Yet NKF refused to subsidise a useful amount of money to them as they said that he has 3 daughters working. But have they thought about their income? Is it enough to pay off the medical fees as well as to feed their own families? Ridiculous.
Malaysia's one time treatment is RM60 yet Singapore's one time treatment is $80 with subsidies. Well..??
Really pissed off seeing these people cheating the poor's money. I'm wondering if those actors and actresses, from Singapore and overseas, are paid to participate in that show? Its a charity show isn't it? I don't know.. I'm just wondering since its a cheat afterall..
